Sobe Soba Naha Review: 40-Minute Wait With a Toddler

Two Okinawa soba set meals with jushi rice at Sobe Soba in Naha

Visited in August 2026. This review is based on our own visit. Business details were checked against the restaurant’s official website on September 3, 2026 and may change.

If you are deciding whether Sobe Soba (楚辺そば) is worth adding to your Naha itinerary, here is the short version: it is a popular Okinawa soba restaurant with a traditional atmosphere, generous pork toppings, and a queue that can look more intimidating than it actually is.

We visited at around 1 p.m. with our toddler. There were roughly 30 groups ahead of us, but the line moved steadily and we were seated after about 40 minutes.

What we ordered

Two Sobe Soba set meals with Okinawan seasoned rice and side dishes

We ordered two set meals and tried Okinawa soba with several pork toppings, including cartilage soki, pork rib, and san-mai-niku pork belly. The sets also included jūshī, Okinawan seasoned rice, along with small side dishes.

The jūshī was the standout for me. It was savory, comforting, and worth choosing over plain rice if you order the set. Trying several cuts of pork also made the meal more interesting because each had a different texture.

Current menu prices

As of September 2026, the official menu lists Okinawa soba at ¥1,000, hon-soki soba at ¥1,350, and cartilage soki soba at ¥1,350. Turning a bowl into a set costs an additional ¥400 and includes jūshī or white rice, mozuku vinegar, and a small side dish. Prices may change, so check the official menu before your visit.

The 40-minute wait

Seeing about 30 groups on the waiting list initially felt overwhelming, especially with a toddler. In practice, the turnover was faster than we expected. Our total wait was around 40 minutes.

Because the restaurant does not accept reservations, I would keep some flexibility in your schedule. Arriving outside the main lunch rush may help, but that is not a guarantee.

Visiting Sobe Soba with a toddler

A child chair was available during our visit. However, we were seated in the tatami area, so using the floor-style child chair was less convenient than a standard restaurant high chair.

The official website lists 80 tatami seats and 10 table seats. If a regular table would be easier for your family, it is worth asking when you arrive, although availability cannot be guaranteed.

Important: bring cash

Sobe Soba is cash only. Do not rely on a credit card or mobile payment. Bringing enough yen in advance will save you an unnecessary trip to an ATM.

Is Sobe Soba worth visiting?

Sobe Soba is a good option if you want a filling Okinawa soba meal in Naha and do not mind waiting. The queue was long during our visit, but it moved efficiently, and the jūshī was especially memorable.

For families, the child chair is helpful, but the tatami seating may take a little more effort with an active toddler. I would visit with a flexible schedule, bring cash, and choose the set with jūshī.
